What is Ultrasound?
Ultrasound is a safe, versatile and fast diagnostic imaging exam that uses high frequency sound waves transmitted through a transducer (probe). This exam can look at the structures of your body for abnormalities that could be associated with your symptoms or physical condition, without the use of radiation or contrast dye.
It can help evaluate the heart during an echocardiogram, assess the function of tendons and ligaments, evaluate joint spaces for fluid or inflammation, and check on the growth and well-being of your baby.
It can help to examine your organs, tissues, and blood vessels. Also, to confirm pregnancy, detect injuries, and diagnose conditions like deep vein thrombosis.
